MCP (Model Context Protocol) is an open standard by Anthropic that allows AI assistants to communicate directly with external systems. Instead of taking screenshots or copy-pasting data, your AI assistant reads and writes directly in your business system — securely and controlled.

Yes. The MCP Server is hosted on European Google Cloud servers. Every session requires a valid API key validated against your cashwerk organization. All existing roles and permissions (RBAC) apply via MCP as well — a user with restricted rights also has restricted access via MCP.
No. cashwerk only sends data in response to your requests. Data processing by the AI provider is subject to their respective privacy policies — we recommend using their enterprise plans that don't train on user data.
No. The configuration consists of an API key and one JSON config line. No code, no installation, no server management. The MCP Server runs hosted at mcp.cashwerk.io.
MCP access is included in the Business and Enterprise plans. No additional costs, no separate billing.
The REST API is for developers building custom integrations. The MCP Server makes the same functions accessible to AI assistants — without code. Technically, the MCP Server uses the REST API under the hood.
Yes. Through your API key and cashwerk RBAC permissions, you control exactly which modules and records the AI assistant can access. Critical actions can additionally be confirmed via CASPER's human-in-the-loop.
Yes. The same rate limits as the REST API apply. When exceeded, the AI assistant receives a clear error message with retry guidance.
Yes. In stdio mode, the MCP Server runs as a local process on your machine. The connection to cashwerk goes through your network — without using the hosted endpoint.
